Your task is to put together
a presentation for prospective sixth form students
and their parents, encouraging them to consider
studying biology at A-level.
To do this, you should aim to show
how biology A-level courses examine fast-moving,
cutting-edge science, providing the audience with
a presentation on genetic engineering and why
it is important in the field of medicine. You
should also aim to communicate the idea that biology
is an important subject to study because of its
ever-increasing impact on how disease is treated
throughout the world.
You can plan this presentation
individually or in a small group. Remember that
you have to keep the attention of your audience
at all times, and that you want to fill them with
a real sense of enthusiasm and interest for the
kind of material they will meet during their A-level
studies.

site – along with any other
examples you may have met as part of your
studies – to put together
your presentation. Do not ignore the fact
that some of this work raises ethical issues,
but aim to show how understanding ethical
issues and developing the ability to make
informed, unbiased decisions is part of studying
a subject like biology. |
