Plants and trees

Plants grow in the soil from seeds or bulbs.

Seeds can be carried in the air by the wind so that they can land on new soil and grow.

For example, dandelion seeds are spread far and wide by the wind.

Or, insects and larger animals can carry seeds on their bodies.

Once seeds have landed on the soil, they need water and the right temperature to grow. Once the plant begins to grow, they need light too.

Seeds and bulbs don’t need light, as they grow under the soil.

Below is a picture of a sunflower and it’s different parts. Click on the numbers to find out what each part of does.
